Faculty and Professional Learning Community Meetings. In the event the Board maintains a traditional dismissal calendar without a weekly early dismissal schedule, faculty and Professional Learning Community (PLC) meetings shall normally not exceed forty-five (45) minutes beyond the teacher workday and there shall normally be no more than one (1) PLC meeting per month except in emergency situations. In the event the Board maintains a calendar with a weekly early dismissal schedule, PLC meetings will be held during this time. All early dismissal day activities will be concluded by the end of the normal teacher workday in each building. The early dismissal day preceding parent-teacher conferences and/or before report cards, as well as the week of winter program rehearsals in the event teachers lose their plan time for rehearsal practices, shall be dedicated to teacher preparation. At the request of the Association, at the conclusion of each PLC meeting, teachers will remain in that room for the Association to hold its meetings.

The District and the Association support the use of Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) in which educators work collaboratively in recurring cycles of collective inquiry and action research to achieve better results for the students they serve. Staff members will attend up to three (3) ninety (90) minute PLC meetings per month. PLC teamwork must include some or all of the following: • Gathering and analyzing evidence of current levels of student learning • Developing strategies and ideas to build on strengths and address weaknesses in that learning • Designing lessons, case studies, and units • Analyzing the implementations and results of those new strategies and lessons • Applying new knowledge in the next cycle of continuous improvement In keeping with the spirit and intent of Professional Learning Communities, the agenda for PLC time shall be set by PLC teams and individual teachers. The agenda shall not be mandated by building or district level administrators. PLC teams may meet even if all members are not present. In order to fully engage all members of their PLC, no member shall serve on more than two PLCs in a school year.   • Training and Professional Development 11.1 The Employer will develop and maintain an employee training and development plan and provide such plan to the Union upon request. Staff training is intended to provide an opportunity for classified staff employees for training sponsored by the University Training and Development and the UW Medical Centers Organizational Development and Training. Education/Professional Leave is intended to facilitate employee access to continuing education opportunities. Training and educational/professional leave may be used for the purpose of improving job performance, maintaining and increasing proficiency, preparing staff for greater responsibility, or increasing promotional opportunities within the framework of staff positions available at the University. 11.2 Any release time for training for employees accepted for such classes shall be in accordance with the Executive Order (currently No. 52) governing this matter. In the event that two or more employees request the same training period and supervision must limit the number of persons who may participate at one time due to work requirements, the selection will be made on a mutually agreeable basis within the department. 11.3 The training program is a proper subject for discussion by either departmental or University-wide Joint Union/Management Committees. 11.4 If the Employer requires an employee to receive training, reimbursement will be provided in accordance with the University travel rules. Employee attendance at Employer required training, either during or outside working hours, will be considered time worked and compensated in accordance with the provisions of this Agreement. 11.5 Employee attendance at training not required by the Employer and not covered by Executive Order 52, either on approved leave from or outside of working hours, will be voluntary and not considered time worked.

  • Management; Community Policies Owner may retain employees and management agents from time to time to manage the Property, and Owner’s agent may retain other employees or contractors. Resident, on behalf of himself or herself and his or her Guests, agrees to comply fully with all directions from Owner and its employees and agents, and the rules and regulations (including all amendments and additions thereto, except those that substantially modify the Resident’s bargain and to which Resident timely objects) as contained in this Agreement and the Community Policies of the Property.   • Professional Conferences Professional conferences are those conferences sponsored by educational organizations, institutions of higher learning, and government and industry concerning teaching, learning and educational research. When a full-time or part-time faculty member’s attendance at a professional conference conflicts with his/her regular assignment, the faculty member must submit a request for attendance to the appropriate ▇▇▇▇, Director, or Supervisor. If granted, the attendance at the conference will be considered leave with pay, and a follow-up report of the conference shall be submitted to the appropriate Supervisor.

  • Letter of Understanding Professional Responsibility For the life of this Collective Agreement, the parties agree as follows: The parties acknowledge and agree that professional responsibility concerns are most appropriately resolved expeditiously between them in the workplace. The parties commit to exhausting all reasonable efforts, which may include third party mediation, before an IAC hearing is conducted. The parties agree that resident care is enhanced if concerns relating to professional practice and workload are resolved in a timely and effective manner. The parties acknowledge that in most cases they will be able to find a resolution to these concerns.
