Common use of Fitness Testing Clause in Contracts

Fitness Testing. Fitness testing will be conducted while on duty. Since the fitness testing is done on a voluntary basis, no overtime will be paid to participating firefighting personnel. i) Testing will be administered by department fitness coordinators. ii) Fitness testing will be administered on Pass/Fail basis. Standards are established according to sex and age. Passing scores must be obtained in each of the areas of testing. Members must pass the Fitness Test in a calendar year to qualify for incentive bonuses. Bonuses will be distributed within 30 days following completion of the test. iii) Medical requirements for participating in testing: (1) A physician’s referral is required prior to initial participation and every year thereafter. (2) At the time of testing, resting pulse and blood pressure will be measured. Any member with a resting pulse of over 90, or blood pressure of 150/90 or greater will be prohibited from participating. Tests are given only once each year. (3) Participants failing the Fitness Test will require medical clearance prior to participation in subsequent tests. (4) Areas of testing: The Department will test for the following: (a) muscular endurance (b) flexibility
