Formal Stage. Step 1 a) Where OSSTF decides to proceed with a grievance, it shall commit the grievance to writing, setting out the facts of the grievance together with the provisions of the Agreement claimed to have been violated and indicating the relief sought and shall deliver the same to the Principal or Supervisor within twenty (20) days from the time of the occurrence of the circumstances giving rise to the grievance or when the employee ought reasonably to have become aware of the circumstances giving rise to the grievance under this Collective Agreement. b) The Principal or immediate supervisor or designate, shall meet with the grievor(s) and the designate OSSTF representative(s) within ten (10) days from the receipt of the grievance. The Principal or immediate supervisor or designate shall forward the written decision to OSSTF within five (5) days of such meeting. a) Failing settlement at Step 1, OSSTF may submit the grievance, in writing, to the Director or designate within five (5) days of receiving the decision at Step 1. b) The Director or designate shall meet with the designated OSSTF representative(s) within ten (10) days from the receipt of the grievance. The grievor(s) may attend such meeting at the request of the OSSTF representative(s). The Director or designate shall forward a written decision to OSSTF within five (5) days of such meeting. If no settlement is reached, OSSTF may submit the grievance to arbitration within twenty (20) days of receipt of the response as follows:

Formal Stage. When disciplinary matters require a hearing to be held 48 hours’ notice of the hearing will be given wherever practicable and those concerned will be informed in advance of the matter to be discussed. You will receive a letter inviting you to attend the disciplinary hearing. This letter will set out the matters to be discussed at the hearing.

Formal Stage. If the complaint referred to above has not been satisfactorily resolved, a Bargaining Unit policy grievance or group grievance, or a Board grievance shall be submitted to the Board or the Bargaining Unit, as the case may be, in writing by the grievor within twenty (20) days from the time the circumstances upon which the problem is based were known or should have been known. A meeting between the Board and the Bargaining Unit shall be held within ten (10) days of the presentation of the written grievance and shall take place within the framework of Articles 29.08 - 29.11 above. The Board or the Bargaining Unit, as the case may be, shall give its written decision within ten (10) days of such meeting.

The grievance shall be signed by the grievor(s) and/or OECTA as the case may be and shall send the same to the senior administrator responsible for human resources or his designate within twenty (20) Business Days from the time of the occurrence of the circumstances giving rise to the grievance or when the Teacher ought reasonably to have become aware of the circumstances giving rise to the grievance under this collective agreement. b) The senior administrator responsible for human resources or his/her designate, shall meet with the grievor(s) and/or the representative(s) within ten (10) Business Days from the receipt of the grievance. The senior administrator responsible for human resources or his designate shall forward the written decision to OECTA within five (5) Business Days of such meeting. a) Failing settlement at Step 1, the grievor(s) and/or OECTA shall submit the grievance, in writing, to the Assistant SuperintendentBusiness Services or designate within five (5) Business Days of receiving the decision at Step 1. b) The Assistant Superintendent – Business Services shall meet with the grievor(s) and/or OECTA representative(s) within ten (10) Business Days from the receipt of the grievance. The senior administrator responsible for human resources or designate may be present if so required by the Assistant Superintendent – Business Services. The Assistant Superintendent – Business Services or designate shall forward a written decision to OECTA within five (5) Business Days of such meeting. If no settlement is reached, OECTA may submit the grievance to arbitration within ten (10) Business Days of receipt of the response as follows:
Formal Stage. Level I - Immediate Administrator 25.2.2.1 Within twenty (20) days after the conclusion of the informal process, the grievant must present the grievance in writing to the immediate administrator. 25.2.2.2 The written statement shall be a clear, concise statement of the grievance, including the specific contract provisions alleged to have been violated, misapplied, or misinterpreted, the circumstances involved, and the specific remedy sought. 25.2.2.3 Either the grievant or the immediate administrator may request a personal conference. 25.2.2.4 The immediate administrator shall communicate a decision to the grievant in writing within ten (10) days after receiving the grievance and such action will terminate Level I. Failure by the immediate administrator to communicate a written decision to the grievant within the ten (10) day limit will also terminate Level I.
Formal Stage a) If the Occasional Teacher is not satisfied with the decision regarding the complaint then the Union may within ten (10) days take the matter up as a grievance in the following manner and sequence: b) Step 1 1) a description of how the alleged dispute is in violation of the Agreement; 2) a statement of the facts to support such grievance, including the specific Article(s) violated; 3) the remedy sought; and 4) the signature of the President of the Union or designate. Notwithstanding the above and where the Union and the Board agree that it is appropriate, a grievance may proceed directly to Step 2, Step 3, or Step 4.
