Higher Classification Work. Any employee who temporarily performs the duties of a position in a higher classification for 80 consecutive hours shall continue to receive his/her normal rate of pay. The Department Head or designee shall determine and specifically assign, in writing, an employee to perform all of the significant duties of the higher classification. Any subsequent work (81 consecutive hours or greater) performed by the employee in the higher classification shall entitle the employee to be paid at the normal rate of pay for that classification while performing such duties with two exceptions:
