ILLNESS ALLOWANCE. 14.01 Illness allowance means the period of time a full-time nurse is absent from work with full pay by virtue of being sick or disabled, exposed to a contagious disease or under examination or treatment by a physician, chiropractor, or dentist which prevents her from carrying out her normal duties or because of an accident for which compensation is not payable under the Workers' Compensation Act. 14.02 A full-time nurse who has completed her probationary period shall be credited with eighteen (18) days of sick leave. Further accumulation shall be on the basis of one (1) working day per month for each month of service not to exceed twelve (12) working days in any twelve (12) month period between April 1 of one (1) year and March 31 of the following year. Any of these twelve (12) days which are unused can not be accumulated and taken in any subsequent twelve (12) month period. 14.03 For a nurse who is absent from work due to illness or accident, not covered by the Workers’ Safety and Insurance Board, a deduction shall be made from accumulated sick leave for all normal working days or half-days (exclusive of holidays) absent for sick leave. 14.04 The Employer will notify the nurse of the amount of unused sick leave standing to her credit by April 15 of each year.
ILLNESS ALLOWANCE. 17.01 If a nurse leaves work during the tour of duty due to illness, she shall be paid for the entire tour. 17.02 If at all possible, a nurse will give at least two (2) hours’ notice of illness before she is scheduled to go on duty. 17.03 The Employer shall assume total responsibility for providing and funding a Short- Term Disability (S.T.D.) and Long-Term Disability (L.T.
ILLNESS ALLOWANCE. 9.1 Full-time nurses and part-time nurses (on a pro rata basis) will accumulate illness allowance on the basis of one and one-half (1 1/2) working days with salary for each month of service or its equivalent, to a maximum of one hundred and eighty (180) days for full-time nurses, pro-rated for part-time nurses. Those employees who have a current accumulated illness allowance greater than 180 days will retain their allowance for all purposes other than LTD. (a) When leaving employ for any reason after five (5) years’ service from January 1, 1971, and with the exception set out below in 9.2(b), the nurse will receive one-half (1/2) accumulated illness allowance, which payment shall not exceed the equivalent of ninety (90) days’ salary. (b) Those nurses who were covered by a former contract in the County of Middlesex dated May 14, 1969 under Article 8 which states "When leaving employment for any reason after five (5) years’ service the nurse will receive one-half (1/2) accumulated illness allowance; however, such allowance shall not exceed the equivalent of one hundred and twenty (120) days’ salary". (c) Employees hired after January 1, 1982 will not be eligible for benefits described in 9.2a and 9.2b. 9.3 When an employee is injured in the course of her employment and in receipt of Workplace Safety Insurance Board Benefits in lieu of her regular pay, the Employer will, upon the request of the employee, make up the difference between such compensation and the employee’s regular pay to the extent of the maximum of the employee’s accumulated sick leave with pay credits. The amount of such make up shall be deducted from such accumulated credits. 9.4 Employees will be allowed to use up to a maximum of ten (10) of their sick leave credits per calendar year for the purposes of personal or family preventative health care or for tending to family illness. 9.5 If the Employer requires the employee to obtain a medical certificate, the employer shall pay the cost of obtaining the certificate to a maximum of fifteen ($15.00) dollars.
ILLNESS ALLOWANCE. (1) Effective July 1, 2008, all school year unit members who are assigned for at least twenty (20) hours per week shall be allowed to accumulate a maximum of 165 illness days as follows: (a) At the beginning of each school year, or upon employment during a school year, ten (10) illness days (to accumulate to a maximum of 165 days) shall be provided to each unit member. If a unit member is hired after September 15 of any school year, illness days shall be provided on a prorated basis (one (1) day per month) for the remainder of that school year. (b) Unit members who leave the employment of the District before the end of the school year who have exhausted their allowable time for illness beyond the rate of one (1) day for each month of service, up to and including the last day of service, will have their last paycheck adjusted for the overpaid days. (c) At the beginning of each succeeding school year, ten (10) illness days shall be added to the previous number accrued. At no point may this number exceed 165. At the end of each school year a new allowance shall be computed reflecting any illness days used that school year. All illness days will be subject to the procedures and regulations set forth below. (d) All unit members shall be given an advance of their total annual illness allowance in accordance with the schedule above as of the first official day of school each year. Any unit member who uses advance illness allowance and terminates from the District prior to having earned the illness allowance on a prorated monthly basis shall have deducted from his or her final salary check the amount equal to the number of days taken but not earned. (e) If an employee reports for work and is sent home due to illness by his/her immediate supervisor or department head, the employee shall suffer no loss of time or pay for that day. Such absence shall not be charged to sick leave or personal leave.

(A Raeceipt is required and medical certificates will be routinely verified.) If the Employer requires the employee to complete any Functional Abilities Examination and / or Independent Medical Examination, the Employer shall pay the full cost.
ILLNESS ALLOWANCE. 11.01 Nurses may take up to six (6) days of uncertified absence due to illness within a calendar year with one hundred percent (100%) pay. Nurses must use three (3) days of their uncertified absence, or the remainder of the bank if less than three (3) days, prior to applying for Short Term Disability. A nurse may use any additional credits available including, but not limited to, comp time, flex time, vacation time and personal days to keep their salary whole during the period of assessment for Short Term Disability. Upon approval of the Nurse’s Short Term Disability claim, any additional credits used will be reinstated to the Nurse’s appropriate bank. 11.02 In cases where a nurse is unable to do the essential duties of her job due to non- occupational illness or accident, Nurses shall receive Short Term Disability benefits as follows (pro-rated for part-time Nurses) provided all such absences are certified and reviewed for the suitability of accommodation or modified work, when required.
ILLNESS ALLOWANCE. 13.01 Illness allowance is payable when a full-time employee is absent from work due to illness or injury which is not compensatory under the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act. 13.02 Full-time employees shall be awarded ten (10) sick leave days on January 1st of each year. The sick leave days shall be non-cumulative. No pay out will be made for any unused sick leave days. 13.03 The Short Term Disability Plan in place at Lanark Lodge for full-time members will include a five (5) day waiting period. An employee on sick leave in excess of five days shall be entitled to receive 75% of wages at his/her normal rate of pay immediately prior to sick leave up to and including the 85th sick leave day.
ILLNESS ALLOWANCE. 15.01 Illness allowance in accordance with the insured benefit package and 15.05, is payable when an employee(s) is absent from work due to illness or injury which is not compensatory under The Workplace Safety and Insurance Act. 15.02 If an employee(s) leaves work during the tour of duty due to illness or an illness/injury compensable by Workers' Compensation Benefits, she shall be paid for the entire tour without loss of illness allowance credits. 15.03 The Employer will provide a Short-Term Disability (STD) and Long-Term Disability (LTD) Insurance Plan for all full-time employee(s) and for those permanent part- time employee(s) hired on or before December 1, 2008.
