Informal Observations. The purpose of informal observations, which may be unannounced, is to document staff performance in settings that are outside the formal observation process and are applicable to the employee’s evaluation criteria. Informal observations are intended to document strengths as well as concerns regarding employee performance. Informal observations shall not take place on the day before Thanksgiving, winter or spring breaks. These observations shall be a minimum of ten (10) minutes in length. If there is an area of concern, the evaluator will identify specific concerns in writing within ten (10) days for the applicable criteria and provide the opportunity to discuss possible solutions with the teacher.
