Interpreter Services. There shall be an adequate interpreter service for all areas of the hospital and out-patient departments, twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week. Interpreters shall be knowledgeable in medical terminology. BMC will create a central email address that can be used to report instances in which interpreter services were lacking in some way. The Hospital has tasked a group of physicians with (i) identifying gaps in the current provision of interpreter services and (ii) making recommendations to address those gaps with the goal of enhancing patient safety. Any issues regarding interpreter services that are reported to the central email address designated for interpreter services reports shall be shared with the committee. The Committee of Interns and Residents may select up to eight (8) House Staff representatives to participate on the committee to facilitate attendance by at least two (2) but no more than three (3) representatives.
