Involuntary Separation. Once an employee has successfully completed his or her probation, he or she may not be discharged without due process. The Human Resources Director shall review all proposed discharges prior to any termination action being taken. The review should include information to determine exactly why the employee is to be discharged and that the discharge is: a) warranted by the circumstances; b) properly documented; c) supported by the employee's personnel record; and d) consistent with the Department's policies and procedures. An employee who has been discharged shall be entitled to receipt of a written notice of discharge, which states: (a) the effective date of the discharge; (b) the reason(s) for the discharge; (c) notification of the employee's right to request a hearing for review of the discharge action.
