Professional Development. 9.01 Continuous professional development is a hallmark of professional nursing practice. As a self-regulating profession, nursing recognizes the importance of maintaining a dynamic practice environment which includes ongoing learning, the maintenance of competence, career development, career counselling and succession planning. The parties agree that professional development includes a diverse range of activities, including but not limited to formal academic programs; short-term continuing education activities; certification programs; independent learning committee participation. The parties recognize their joint responsibility in and commitment to active participation in the area of professional development.
Professional Development. (a) The parties to this Agreement share a desire to improve professional standards by giving employees the opportunity on occasion to participate in seminars, workshops, short courses or similar out-service programs for the development of knowledge and skills in their respective fields. (b) An employee may apply at any time for professional development under this clause, and the Council may select an employee at any time for such professional development. (c) When an employee is selected by the Council for professional development under this clause the Council will consult with the employee before determining the location and duration of the program of work or studies to be undertaken. (d) An employee selected for professional development under this clause will continue to receive his/her normal compensation including any increase for which he/she may become eligible. The employee shall not be entitled to any compensation under Article 11 (Overtime) and Article 28 (Travelling) while on professional development under this clause. (e) An employee on professional development under this clause may be reimbursed for reasonable travel expenses and such other additional expenses as the Council deems appropriate.
Professional Development. (a) The parties to this Agreement share a desire to improve professional standards by giving the employees the opportunity on occasion: (i) to participate in workshops, short courses or similar out-service programs to keep up to date with knowledge and skills in their respective fields, (ii) to conduct research or perform work related to their normal research programs in institutions or locations other than those of the Employer, (iii) to carry out research in the employee's field of specialization not specifically related to their assigned work projects when in the opinion of the Employer such research is needed to enable the employees to fill their present role more adequately. (b) Subject to the Employer's approval an employee shall receive leave with pay in order to participate in the activities described in 18.04(a). (c) An employee may apply at any time for professional development under this clause, and the Employer may select an employee at any time for such professional development. (d) When an employee is selected by the Employer for professional development under this clause, the Employer will consult with the employee before determining the location and duration of the program of work or studies to be undertaken. (e) Employees selected for professional development under this clause shall continue to receive their normal compensation, including any increase for which they may become eligible. Professional Development. (a) The Parties recognise that commencing 1 January 2023, professional development training may be required for the renewal or retention of an electrical licence. (b) Where a regulatory authority determines that an Employee is required to attend training for the purposes of licence retention or renewal, and such training takes place within the spread of ordinary hours, an Employee will be entitled to attend the training without loss of pay. For the avoidance of doubt, the costs of the training will be borne by the Employee.
Professional Development i. If this is a professional development program, can the service be provided by existing staff? If no, why not?
Professional Development. The Company will reimburse the Executive for education and professional development expenses related to courses or programs selected by the Executive in the energy sector up to $25,000 per calendar year. The Executive may take such courses during normal business hours and will not be required to utilize vacation time.
Professional Development. The Superintendent is expected to continue his professional development and to participate in relevant learning experiences. With the approval of the Board, he may attend appropriate professional meetings at the local, state, regional and national level; and the Board will pay for valid expenses of attendance. If the Superintendent attends a national convention and does not return following the initial year of employment as Superintendent, the Superintendent agrees to repay the District in full for national convention expenses paid by the District.
Professional Development. Upon completion of two (2) consecutive terms as Association President, an ASF Member may have the opportunity to take a paid professional development leave of up to six (6) months, if the professional development activity is mutually agreed to by the President and the ASF Member. The application for Professional Development Leave must be submitted within three (3) months of completion of the second term. The starting date of the leave must be agreed upon by the President and ASF Member. Upon completion of the leave, a recipient of this benefit is expected to provide service for a period of time equal to the length of the Professional Development Leave. An individual who takes this professional development leave shall not accrue vacation but shall accrue sick leave at one-half (1/2) the applicable rate for the duration of the leave.
Professional Development. 1. The Board and the Union shall establish a Joint Professional Development Fund for the purpose of promoting professional development of the teaching staff of the School District. 2. Each September 1 the Board shall contribute $30,000 to the Joint Professional Development Fund. 3. In addition to F.23.2, the Board agrees that there will be an allocation of one teacher-teaching-on- call (TTOC) day per FTE teacher on staff on September 30 for costs of teachers-teaching-on-call (TTOC) for those teachers granted any professional development leave of absence, in the form of a budget account at the Board office. 4. The Board and the Union shall establish a Joint Professional Development Committee for the following purposes: a. to develop policies which promote and ▇▇▇▇▇▇ the professional development of teachers, and, b. to administer the Joint Professional Development Fund. 5. The ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ Teachers Professional Development Fund shall be administered by the Joint Professional Development Committee. a. The Joint Professional Development Committee shall be chaired by the Union’s Professional Development Chairperson and shall consist of two (2) representatives of the Board and three (3) representatives of the Union. b. The Chairperson of the Joint Professional Development Committee and a representative of the Board shall be co-signers of all cheques disbursed by the Committee. c. The Joint Professional Development Fund shall be subject to audit every second year commencing in the 2015-16 school year. d. The Joint Professional Development Committee shall be entitled to use up to thirty (30) teacher-teaching-on-call (TTOC) days from the Joint Professional Development Fund as per Article F.23.2, for the purpose of meeting and/or conducting committee business. 6. The Joint Professional Development Committee shall adhere to the following principles: a. teachers shall participate in professional development on a voluntary basis; b. opportunities for professional development activities shall be distributed as equitably as possible. 7. The Joint Professional Development Fund will not be required to finance curriculum implementation in the District. 8. The Board shall allocate to the budget of each school $50 per teacher for the purpose of promoting professional development. Professional Development. Early Return participants shall participate in both school-based and District- based Professional Development. School-based Professional Development shall include grade level and departmental collaborative planning, review of student learning growth data, job-embedded Professional Development on lesson study, and other instructional strategies. District-based Professional Development shall include training in Common Core Standards and content specific areas in support of increased learning.
