The Professional Development Program clause establishes the employer’s commitment to supporting ongoing education and skill enhancement for employees. Typically, this clause outlines the types of training, workshops, or courses that may be offered or reimbursed, and may specify eligibility criteria or approval processes. Its core function is to ensure that employees have opportunities to grow professionally, which benefits both the individual and the organization by maintaining a skilled and up-to-date workforce.
Professional Development Program. (a) The parties agree to continue a Professional Development Program for the maintenance and development of the faculty members' professional competence and effectiveness. It is agreed that maintenance of currency of subject knowledge, the improvement of performance of faculty duties, and the maintenance and improvement of professional competence, including instructional skills, are the primary professional development activities of faculty members.
(b) Information collected as part of this program shall be the sole property of the faculty member. This information or any judgments arising from this program shall not be used to determine non-renewal or termination of a faculty member's contract, suspension or dismissal of a faculty member, denial of advancement on the salary scale, nor affect any other administrative decisions pertaining to the promotion or employment status of the faculty member.
(c) A joint advisory committee consisting of three regular faculty members who shall be elected by and are P.D. Committee Chairpersons and three administrators shall make recommendations for the operation, financing and management of the Professional Development Program.
Professional Development Program. The City will reimburse each employee 100% of expenses incurred, up to $1,500.00 per fiscal year, pursuant to the terms and conditions of the Professional Development Program for employees represented by AEA, IFPTE, Local 21 as described in the City Policy Manual’s Professional Development Program.
11.6.1 A total of $500 (of the $1,500 annual maximum) may be reimbursed for professional materials pursuant to the terms and conditions of the Professional Development Program for employees represented by AEA, IFPTE, Local 21 as described in the City Policy Manual’s Professional Development Program, provided that the materials relate to and are beneficial for the work of the employee’s current City position or occupation or are required of the employee’s current City position or occupation.
Professional Development Program. The University will provide professional development awards for those not eligible for sabbaticals. Such awards are for professional renewal, study, formal education, certification, research, teaching improvement, or other experiences of professional value.
Professional Development Program. The Board of Education believes professional staff members need to stay current in their respective field of endeavor and support the concept that in-service education is a pragmatic method of accomplishment of said need.
Professional Development Program. A. The Board of Education shall appropriate for each fiscal year, a sum sufficient to provide Eighteen Thousand Dollars ($18,000), to provide reimbursement to teachers/tutors for earned college credit, subject to the following conditions:
1. The teacher/tutor shall have taught in the Waterloo Local Schools for a minimum of three (3) years.
2. The college course must be taken in Education, in or toward an area or additional area(s) of any certification/licensure permitted by the State Department of Education, or in the specific discipline as currently certified.
3. The unused portion of the sum appropriated above shall be paid to qualifying teachers for courses taken during summer sessions.
4. Available monies shall be provided to reimburse qualified teachers/tutors on a first- come/first-served basis.
5. Upon approval through LPDC, courses through an accredited college or university shall be approved for reimbursement.
6. The teacher/tutor shall submit written proof in the form of an official transcript of completed credit at an accredited university, with a passing grade, to the Superintendent, at the conclusion of the quarter in which the previously approved course was taken.
7. A teacher/tutor qualified for such reimbursement shall be reimbursed for the cost of courses approved in accordance with the procedures established herein, at the rate of Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) for each quarter hour [Three Hundred Dollars ($300.00) per semester hour] successfully completed not to exceed nine (9) quarter hours [six (6) semester hours] annually (September 1 – August 31) per teacher, provided the preceding provisions of this Section have been met. No teacher/tutor shall be reimbursed for more than his/her actual cost.
8. The reimbursement is to be payable as a single sum in the next salary check following presentation of satisfactory evidence that the course work has been successfully completed.
9. Each teacher/tutor receiving reimbursement under this Section, prior to his/her receipt of such reimbursement, shall agree that he/she will teach in this District for at least one (1) full school year following receipt of such reimbursement. If such teacher fails to teach in the District for the required period, the amount of such reimbursement received during the prior school year shall be deducted from said teacher’s final pay.

Professional Development Program. Teachers will be provided a Professional Development Program, at HRC, LRC and BSDC, which will be defined as assistance for graduate level courses that are directly related to serving the needs of a teacher's current student population and are not offered during non-work times or any other time during the year. The course must be approved by his/her supervisor. This program allows the individual facility to provide the 75% tuition reimbursement following the policy guidelines for tuition assistance and for the teacher to attend the class during work time.
Professional Development Program. The professional development program of the College shall include:
(a) on campus in-service seminars or courses, including continuing education courses directly related to the employee's discipline. Employees would apply for funding through Professional Development Fund;
(b) non-teaching duty days (up to two (2) months) to be used for approved professional development projects;
(c) short-term (up to two (2) months) releases from teaching or other professional duties for approved industrial liaison and professional development projects;
(d) extended (up to one (1) year) leave for employees having a continuing appointment at part or full salary;
(e) an exchange program whereby an employee may for one (1) year exchange duties with someone of appropriate qualifications and receive full pay, benefits and increment and in all respects continue as an employee of Camosun College;
(f) a continuing employee shall be given eight (8) days of release time each year from normal duties for an approved professional development activity. Professional development release time may be banked, upon approval by the ▇▇▇▇, for use in a larger block to a maximum of forty (40) days. An employee may not use any accumulated professional development release time in the twelve (12) months prior to retirement unless initiated by the College. Professional development release time carries no cash value for employees who leave the College for any reason. An employee who is recalled to a continuing or probationary position shall have their professional development accumulation, that was remaining at the time of his/her layoff, reinstated.
Professional Development Program. 1. Prior to the commencement of each fiscal year beginning during the term of this Agreement, the Board shall appropriate for use within the following fiscal year, the sum of at least Eight Thousand Dollars ($8,000) for the length of this Agreement, for the purpose of reimbursing all or part of the eligible tuition expenses incurred by employees, subject to the following conditions:
2. Written requests for reimbursement shall be submitted by the employee, on the appropriate form, for the approval of the Superintendent or his/her designee, prior to enrolling in the course(s) for which reimbursement is desired.
3. Reimbursement approval shall be considered on the basis of the following descending order of priority for Board approved coursework taken at colleges or universities accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools:
a. Courses that are required by the Ohio Department of DD and/or the Ohio Department of Education as applicable to the employee's current position. Employees who do not meet certification requirements at time of initial employment shall not be eligible for reimbursement of course work required for the position.
b. Courses taken which the parties agree are aimed at developing improvement of skills used in an employee's field of work.
c. Courses that are directly related to the attainment of a post-baccalaureate degree in the field of Education, Habilitation, or Rehabilitation.
d. Courses that are directly related to the attainment of additional areas of certification as designated by the Ohio Department of DD or Ohio Department of Education.
4. Tuition expenses for courses approved by Ohio Department of DD or Ohio Department of Education, as part of course work requirements shall be eligible for reimbursement under this Article. However, expenses incurred by employees (i.e. clock hours) by attendance at in-service training sessions required under such certification standards, shall not be eligible for such reimbursement. Correspondence courses, television courses and on-line courses shall be eligible for reimbursement as long as approved by Article 11.P.3. and/or the Ohio Department of DD or Ohio Department of Education.
5. Approval for reimbursement of tuition costs associated with courses described in 11.P.3.a. b. and c. above, shall be granted on a first-come/first-served basis determined by the date upon which the employee submits a request for approval.

Professional Development Program. A. The Board will compensate unit members for 100% of the prevailing rates at Rowan University for tuition expenses incurred in further study in the field of education or directly related to the individual's area of employment, with prior approval of the Superintendent, and in the professional judgment of the Superintendent, provided such tuition is not otherwise compensable from grants, Veterans Administration, or other institutions or organizations, while employees of the Salem City Board of Education. Requests must be submitted to the Superintendent for his/her approval prior to enrollment.
1. This compensation shall be made upon submission of a voucher in the month of September for those courses taken the previous spring and summer, and in March for those courses taken during the winter. These vouchers shall be held by the Business Administrator/Board Secretary for reimbursement in the budget year following the school year in which said courses were satisfactorily completed, with such reimbursement only being paid if the person concerned is still an employee of the Salem Board of Education. Approval of this voucher by the appropriate Administrator concerned and the Superintendent will indicate approval of such study, and recommendation for payment. For purposes of this Article, the school year shall be from September 1 through August 31. The annual total obligation of the Board for such reimbursement shall not exceed twelve (12) credits per year per unit member.

This reimbursement shall only be made for actual payments to the educational institution or credit card payment made by the employee upon submission of a voucher in the month of September for those courses taken the previous spring and summer, and in March for those courses taken during the winter. These vouchers must be submitted following the school year in which such courses were satisfactorily completed if the person concerned is still an employee of the Salem Board of Education. Approval of this voucher by the Principal concerned and the Superintendent will indicate approval of such study, and recommendation for payment. For purposes of the ARTICLE, the school year shall be from September 1 through August 31. Compensation under this article shall apply only to those support staff members who have been hired as permanent Teachers and not to those hired as temporary replacements.

Professional Development Program. Employees are eligible to attend, at City expense, professional seminars, conferences, and workshops, inclusive of reasonable travel, parking, or accommodation expenses, provided that the seminar or workshop meets the following criteria as determined by the employee’s Department Head: (1) is related to the employee’s job duties and responsibilities; (2) the cost of the training is reasonably related to the benefit of the training to the City; and (3) the employee has received the prior approval of his/her Department Head. Training tapes, books, or pamphlets may be acquired under the terms of this Section provided that such materials remain the property of the City. Requests for professional development must be submitted to the Director of Human Resources, or his/her designee, with a copy of the request being submitted to the employee’s Department Head. The Director of Human Resources, or his/her designee, will meet with the Department Head to determine whether or not the request for professional development meets the criteria set forth in the first paragraph of this section.
