Professional Development Program. A. The Board of Education shall appropriate for each fiscal year, a sum sufficient to provide Eighteen Thousand Dollars ($18,000), to provide reimbursement to teachers/tutors for earned college credit, subject to the following conditions: 1. The teacher/tutor shall have taught in the Waterloo Local Schools for a minimum of three (3) years. 2. The college course must be taken in Education, in or toward an area or additional area(s) of any certification/licensure permitted by the State Department of Education, or in the specific discipline as currently certified. 3. The unused portion of the sum appropriated above shall be paid to qualifying teachers for courses taken during summer sessions. 4. Available monies shall be provided to reimburse qualified teachers/tutors on a first- come/first-served basis. 5. Upon approval through LPDC, courses through an accredited college or university shall be approved for reimbursement. 6. The teacher/tutor shall submit written proof in the form of an official transcript of completed credit at an accredited university, with a passing grade, to the Superintendent, at the conclusion of the quarter in which the previously approved course was taken. 7. A teacher/tutor qualified for such reimbursement shall be reimbursed for the cost of courses approved in accordance with the procedures established herein, at the rate of Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) for each quarter hour [Three Hundred Dollars ($300.00) per semester hour] successfully completed not to exceed nine (9) quarter hours [six (6) semester hours] annually (September 1 – August 31) per teacher, provided the preceding provisions of this Section have been met. No teacher/tutor shall be reimbursed for more than his/her actual cost. 8. The reimbursement is to be payable as a single sum in the next salary check following presentation of satisfactory evidence that the course work has been successfully completed. 9. Each teacher/tutor receiving reimbursement under this Section, prior to his/her receipt of such reimbursement, shall agree that he/she will teach in this District for at least one (1) full school year following receipt of such reimbursement. If such teacher fails to teach in the District for the required period, the amount of such reimbursement received during the prior school year shall be deducted from said teacher’s final pay. 10. Bargaining unit members not required to seek approval through LPDC shall receive reimbursement for courses related to their field of employment upon approval of the Superintendent. B. Preference shall be given to those members of the bargaining unit who are required by the New Certification/Licensure Standards to take Continuing Education.

Professional Development Program. A. The Board of Education shall appropriate for each fiscal year, calendar year a sum sufficient of $3,500 as a stipend to provide Eighteen Thousand Dollars ($18,000), to provide reimbursement to teachers/tutors SSSP personnel for earned college credit, college/vocational or technical credit subject to the following conditions:
1. The teacher/tutor employee shall have taught in worked for the Waterloo Local Schools SELSD for a minimum of three one
(31) yearsyear.
2. The college course taken must meet one of the following:
a. be taken in Education, in or toward an area or related to the employee's job responsibilities;
b. be required to receive a degree/advanced degree;
c. be used to satisfy the requirements for certification - licensure renewal; or,
d. be used to acquire additional area(s) of any certification/licensure permitted by the State Department of Education, or in the specific discipline as currently certifiedcertification - licensure.
3. The unused portion of If the amounts requested exceed the sum appropriated above by the Board, the amount shall be paid to qualifying teachers for courses taken during summer sessionsdivided by the number of credit hours earned and the amounts listed in #6 shall be reduced. No employee will be reimbursed in excess of $400.
4. Available monies shall be provided to reimburse qualified teachers/tutors on a first- come/first-served basisThe Superintendent may approve correspondence and distance learning courses for reimbursement.
5. Upon approval through LPDC, courses through Procedure for application of payment:
a. Employee shall submit a reimbursement form to the Superintendent by October 1st for a course taken during the last twelve (12) months. Evidence of successful completion of the course must accompany this form. This evidence can be in the form of a grade or the official transcript from an accredited college or university shall university, college, vocational and/or technical school where the course was taken. Proof of payment for the course is also required.
b. Payment will be approved for reimbursementmade by October 30th in a single sum.
6. The teacher/tutor shall submit written proof in the form of an official transcript of completed credit at an accredited university, with a passing grade, to the Superintendent, at the conclusion of the quarter in which the previously approved course was taken.
7. A teacher/tutor employee qualified for such reimbursement stipend shall be reimbursed paid for the cost of courses approved in accordance with the procedures established herein, herein at the rate of Two Hundred Dollars (up to $200.00) for each quarter hour [Three Hundred Dollars ($300.00) 100 per semester hour (or equivalent), $150 per graduate semester hour] successfully completed . Reimbursement will not to exceed nine (9) quarter hours [six (6) semester hours] annually (September 1 – August 31) per teacher, provided the preceding provisions actual cost of this Section have been met. No teacher/tutor shall be reimbursed for more than his/her actual costthe class.
8. The reimbursement is to be payable as a single sum in the next salary check following presentation of satisfactory evidence that the course work has been successfully completed.
97. Each teacher/tutor employee receiving reimbursement this stipend under this Section, prior to his/her receipt of such reimbursementpay, shall agree that he/she will teach be on staff in this the District for at least one (1) full school year following receipt of such reimbursementstipend. If such teacher employee fails to teach remain in employment for the District for the required period, the amount of such reimbursement each stipend received during the prior school year shall be deducted from said teacher’s the employee's final pay.
10. Bargaining unit members not required to seek approval through LPDC shall receive reimbursement for courses related to their field of employment upon approval of the Superintendent.
