Leave Conditions. (i) An employee, on giving written notice and receiving written consent, may take unpaid leave for personal reasons during a subsequent financial year (“Additional Leave”). (ii) An employee must provide written notice in advance of the leave to be taken. The period of notice provided must be sufficient to allow leave purchasing arrangements to occur to cover the period of leave. Generally, three (3) months notice must be given, unless otherwise agreed with Human Resources. The notice must specify the number of weeks leave requested and the dates on which the purchased leave will be taken. The notice must also specify the planned dates on which annual leave is to be rostered during that year. (iii) The Business Unit Manager should take into account the impact of the leave on business requirements. The Business Unit Manager can only refuse approval on the basis of legitimate business requirements. (iv) Additional Leave is without pay and can be for any period between one (1) and four (4) weeks, unless otherwise approved by the General Manager Human Resources. (v) Additional Leave must be purchased in blocks of between one (1) and four (4) weeks but can be taken in whole single days. (vi) Additional Leave will be subject to the leave purchasing arrangements of clause 6.9 (b). (vii) Subject to mutual agreement either the employee or the Business Unit Manager may, with four (4) weeks written notice, discontinue this arrangement. (viii) The approval is only in force for one (1) year and a separate application must be made in respect of each subsequent year.
