Leave of Absence for Full-Time Union or Public Duties. 1. The Employer recognized the right of an employee to participate in public affairs. Therefore, upon written request, the Employer shall allow leave of absence of up to three (3) months without loss of benefits provided the employee pays both the Employer and employees share of benefits, so that the employee may be a candidate in federal, provincial or municipal elections. 2. An employee who is elected or selected for a full time position with the Union, or any labour body with which the Union is affiliated, shall be granted leave of absence without loss of seniority for a period of one year. Such leave shall be renewed each year, on request during his/her term of office.

2. (a) An employee who is elected to public office shall be allowed leave of absence without loss of seniority during his/her terms of office.
(b) An employee who is elected or selected for a full full-time position with the Union, or any labour body with which the Union is affiliated, shall be granted leave of absence without loss of seniority for a period of one (1) year. Such leave shall be renewed each year, on request request, during his/her appointment or term of office.
