Lesson Content. When exploring, presenting, and interpreting facts and ideas, a teacher may express a personal opinion, but they must identify it as such and must not express such an opinion for the purpose of persuading students to their point of view. Teachers can freely examine and discuss various perspectives in an open learning environment, as long as the instruction, material, or discussion: 9.1.1 Suits the age of students and takes into account their cognitive and emotional development; and 9.1.2 Aligns with the adopted/assigned curriculum, course, and class materials; and 9.1.3 Provides a fair, balanced academic representation of different viewpoints, adhering to professional standards without promoting biases, or partisanship.
