Common use of Low Census Standby Clause in Contracts

Low Census Standby. Employees may be assigned to either a straight low census or low census standby for either a partial shift or for the entire shift. If the employee assigned low census standby returns to work at any time during his/her regularly scheduled shift, he/she is paid at 1.5x the regular rate for the hours worked. An employee who reports to work after a partial day straight time low census is paid straight time for the remainder of his/her regularly scheduled shift. The Hospital reserves the right to cancel the standby of a low census employee before the straight time low census employee for the remainder of the shift.
