Margin Account. A margin account allows you to borrow against the market value of eligible securities already in your account. The maximum loan amount of an eligible securities is determined by the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC), (we can determine a more restrictive value than this maximum loan amount), and varies depending on the type of investment and the market value of the security. You have to pay a certain amount of money, called the margin deposit, in partial settlement of the transaction. Interest charges are to be paid by you on any amount we lend you.
