Common use of Meals and Breaks Clause in Contracts

Meals and Breaks. All employees shall receive a thirty (30) minute duty-free meal period during each shift. If job duties interrupt or prevent a nurse from taking their scheduled meal break, he/she must notify their immediate supervisor and non-exempt employees shall be paid at the appropriate rate of pay for the full meal break, unless the scheduled meal break can be rescheduled. In addition, all employees working at least eight (8) consecutive hours shall receive one fifteen (15) minute paid break. Employees working a twelve (12) hour shift shall receive an additional fifteen (15) minute break.
