Notice of Intent to Return. Any Teacher granted an unpaid leave of eight (8) calendar months or more, as a condition thereof, shall advise the Superintendent or designee in writing no later than February 15 prior to the termination of such leave that he/she intends to return to employment. At the start of the second semester of the school year, the Superintendent shall send a written reminder to any Teacher on an unpaid leave who must give notice of intent to return by the February 15 deadline. Any Teacher on an unpaid leave which commences after January 1 must give written notice of intent to return by May 1 prior to the termination of such leave. Failure to advise the Superintendent or designee of intent to return as required by this section shall be treated as an election not to return to employment and as a resignation from the District.
