NRSC test. During a prescribed sequence of operating conditions, with the engines warmed up, the amounts of the above exhaust emissions shall be examined continuously by taking a sample from the raw exhaust gas. The test cycle consists of a number of speed and torque (load) modes, which cover the typical operating range of diesel engines. During each mode, the concentration of each gaseous pollutant, exhaust flow and power output shall be determined, and the measured values weighted (either by weighing factors or by sampling time). The particulate sample shall be diluted with conditioned ambient air. One sample over the complete test procedure shall be taken and collected on suitable filters. Alternatively, for discrete mode cycles, a sample may be taken on separate filters, one for each mode, and cycle-weighted results computed. The grams of each pollutant emitted per kilowatt-hour shall be calculated as described in Appendix 3 to this Annex.
