Common use of Online Course Development Clause in Contracts

Online Course Development. A. faculty member shall participate with other faculty members in his or her discipline and/or department to create, develop, revise, and implement a course or program. i. Course development for online courses will follow the process listed below. The faculty, department chairs, and Academic ▇▇▇▇/Supervising Administrators share responsibility for collaboration in: a. Deciding which courses need to be developed as a master course (see definition). b. Selecting faculty for the redesign or development team based on online certification, experience teaching an online course, development experience, and interest. c. Assuring that before a faculty member is selected for development of any online course, he/she must successfully complete DEV 101. d. Assuring that any faculty member who is creating an online course, either as a master course or their own course will receive the full support of the FSW instructional design team. ii. If a faculty member develops a course without reassigned time, the course belongs to the faculty member and is not considered a master course to be shared, although the faculty member has the right to share the course with colleagues if he or she desires. a. Any master course for which the faculty member receives reassigned time belongs to the college and will be distributed accordingly. b. All new online courses must be evaluated using a QM rubric and must meet the Quality Matters Review Expectations to be placed on the schedule. A tiered scheduled for existent courses will be developed in collaboration with the eLearning and the Academic Technology Committee (ATC). c. The faculty member who developed a master course will be responsible for minor updates for three (3) years. If substantial updates are required after three years, the development process will start over. After three (3) years, minor edits will be a collaborative effort of faculty using the master course. d. Faculty will be paid incentives for training, using OER, and receiving a QM certification through a QM Review (amounts of stipends are found in Appendix B).
