Paid Time Off and Extended Sick Leave Program. ‌ Paid Time Off (PTO) is provided to regular full-time employees in lieu of Vacation and Sick Leave. In addition to PTO, an Extended Sick Leave (ESL) bank is created. The purpose of PTO is to compensate employees for absences due to injury, illness, vacation and personal business. In addition, the program is designed to provide employees with personal flexibility regarding the use of leave. With the implementation of PTO and ESL, the following was eliminated: 1) vacation bonus day (eight (8) hours is included in the PTO accrual rate calculation; 2) floating holiday (eight (8) hours is included in the PTO accrual rate calculation); 3) doctor and dentist appointment leave (ten (10) hours is included in the PTO accrual rate calculation); and 4) bereavement leave.
