Extended Sick Leave. When sick leave extends for more than 25 consecutive working days, the appointing authority shall initiate the following procedure:
Extended Sick Leave. When an employee’s salary continuation and short-term disability pay have been exhausted, the employee may request to be placed on extended sick leave if the employee continues to be unable to perform the duties of their position due to the illness or accident. Such request must be made thirty (30) days prior to the expiration of short-term disability payments. Extended sick leave may continue for up to eighteen (18) months from the employee’s last day worked. The time period may be extended by mutual agreement of the University and the POAM. If the employee is released to return to work during his/her extended sick leave, he/she will be offered the next available position for which he/she is qualified. Such position shall be equal in hours to the position previously held, unless otherwise agreed between the University, the employee, and the POAM. The University will pay the cost of COBRA medical coverage during the first twelve (12) months of extended sick leave.
Extended Sick Leave. Once each year an employee will receive a credit of one hundred (100) sick days, which includes a combination of full paid sick days and the remainder at fifty percent (50%) paid sick days. The paid sick leave provided for under this section shall be non-cumulative and exclusive of any other paid leave, holidays, vacation or compensatory time to which the employee may be entitled.
Extended Sick Leave a) Employees shall be eligible for extended sick leave benefits so as to provide benefits in the amount of 66⅔% of regular earnings to a maximum earnings ceiling of the Employment Insurance Act at the time of disability, for (a) the period of absence due to sickness in excess of a two week waiting period in any one illness, or (b) where sick leave credits in Plan A exceed two (2) weeks, benefits from this plan shall commence at the expiration of sick leave credits in Plan A. b) Maximum benefit payable in any one illness shall be for fifteen (15) weeks or for one hundred and five (105) calendar days. c) Benefits under this plan shall be reinstated immediately on return of an employee to work following an illness. d) Benefits under this plan shall not extend beyond normal retirement age. e) The regular rate of pay, which an employee is receiving at time of illness, shall be used in determining benefits under this Plan. f) All recipients of benefits under this Plan must provide, on request of the Company, medical reports on their condition. g) An employee on sick and/or extended sick leave shall only accumulate vacation credits for the first two (2) months of sick leave. h) Benefits under this Plan shall not apply to any employee receiving compensation under The Workers’ ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇, ▇▇▇▇.
Extended Sick Leave. 12.4.1 Unit members shall once a year be credited with a total of not less than one hundred (100) working days of paid sick leave, including fully paid current and accumulated sick leave days. When a unit member has exhausted his/her current and accumulated sick leave and continues to be absent on account of his or her illness or accident for up to a total of one hundred (100) days, whether or not the absence arises out of or in the course of the employment of the unit member, the unit member shall be compensated at not less than fifty (50%) percent of the unit member’s regular salary.
Extended Sick Leave. When a staff member’s salary continuation and short-term disability pay have been exhausted, the staff member may request to be placed on extended sick leave if the staff member continues to be unable to perform the duties of their position due to the illness or accident. Such request must be made thirty (30) days prior to the expiration of short-term disability payments. The Human Resources Office shall notify the staff member of the imminent exhaustion of short-term disability pay in time for the staff member to meet the thirty (30) day request notice as specified above. Extended sick leave may continue for up to eighteen (18) months from the staff member’s last day worked. The time period may be extended by mutual agreement of the University and the Alliance. If the staff member is released to return to work during their extended sick leave, they will be offered the next available position for which they are qualified. Such position shall be equal in hours to the position previously held, unless otherwise agreed between the University, the staff member, and the Alliance. The University will pay the cost of COBRA medical coverage during the first twelve (12) months of extended sick leave.
Extended Sick Leave. An employee who is receiving temporary disability payments and extended sick leave benefits is considered to be on regular pay status, except for completion of the probationary period. However, sick leave and vacation accrued during this period is credited to the employee only upon return to work. If an employee separates without returning to work, the employee shall be paid for vacation for the period the employee received extended leave payment.
Extended Sick Leave. Each classified worker shall be entitled to extended sick leave for illness or injury at the end of all full-pay sick leave or at the end of 10 consecutive working days, whichever is later, and continuing for up to 130 working days from the first day of absence because of illness or injury. Extended sick leave shall be granted in increments of not less than one full day for each working day of absence due to illness or injury. A classified worker on extended sick leave shall be entitled to extended sick leave pay as follows: 10.2.1 For a full month's absence, an amount that equals 66 2/3 percent of the worker's "basic monthly earnings" on the date they were first absent, to a maximum payment of $6000 per month. "Basic monthly earnings" means 1/12th of the worker's annual contract salary. 10.2.2 For less than a full month's absence, an amount that equals an appropriate fraction of the extended sick leave pay calculated under 10. 2.1. The fraction shall be determined by dividing the number of days of absence during the partial month by 20. After the exhaustion of all extended sick leave, a classified worker shall be notified by the Associate Vice Chancellor, Human Resources that they may resign or apply for an unpaid leave due to disability. If such a leave is applied for, it may be approved for up to (5) months. If the worker fails to resign, retire, or apply for such a leave, or if the leave or an extension of a leave is denied, the worker shall be placed on a 39-month reemployment list. In any event, if the worker remains disabled beyond the period of extended sick leave, they shall receive long-term disability benefits under Article 18 in the manner prescribed in the District's long-term disability insurance policy.
Extended Sick Leave. 1. An employee who is receiving temporary disability payments and who has exhausted all accrued sick leave shall receive extended sick leave payments from the University in an amount equal to the difference between the payments from Workers’ Compensation and eighty percent (80%) of the basic salary plus any shift differential which the employee would have received. If such an employee returns to part-time University duties, the earnings plus any temporary disability payments, if less than eighty percent (80%) of basic salary plus shift differential, shall be supplemented to eighty percent (80%) by extended sick leave payments, provided the employee continues to be medically authorized for Workers’ Compensation temporary disability. Total extended sick leave payments shall not exceed twenty-six (26) weeks for any one injury or illness. 2. An eligible employee who does not have sufficient accrued sick leave to cover the three (3) calendar days waiting period for receiving Workers’ Compensation payments shall receive extended sick leave payment to cover any part of the waiting period not covered by sick leave. Payment shall be made only after determination that the injury or illness is compensable under Workers’ Compensation. 3. An employee who elects not to use all sick leave is not eligible for extended sick leave benefits.
Extended Sick Leave. When a teacher is absent from his/her duty on account of illness or accident for a period of five school months or less, whether or not the absence arises out of or in the course of employment of the employee, the amount deducted from the salary due him/her for any month in which the absence occurs shall not exceed the sum which would have been paid to a substitute had one been employed. Upon return to work from extended sick leave, the employee will provide a doctor’s note as proof of the illness or injury.
