Common use of Part-day Absence Clause in Contracts

Part-day Absence. An employee who is required to be on duty away from the employee’s headquarters or temporary headquarters for more than 10 hours but the absence does not extend overnight is eligible to be paid an allowance for additional reasonable expenses incurred other than for travel. Payment of the allowance is subject to the following conditions: (a) no other cost re-imbursement allowance is payable in respect of the absence (for example – Overtime Meal Allowance); and (b) the allowance is not payable whilst an employee whose normal duties require the employee to be absent from the head station or temporary head station is performing normal duties.
