The Patrol Division clause defines the responsibilities and structure of the unit within a law enforcement agency that is tasked with routine patrolling and first response duties. Patrol Division. Section 1a. The regular shift for members of the Patrol Division shall be comprised of five (5), eight (8) hour work days with two (2) consecutive days off. “C” Squad will be 1500- 2300 or 1600-2400 hours. “B” Squad will be 0700-1500 or 0800-1600 hours. “A” Squad will be 2300-0700 or 2400 – 0800 hours. There shall be eighteen (18) job numbers consisting of the following shifts and days off: JOB # SHIFT DAYS OFF
Patrol Division. The Patrol Division Unit schedule will be divided into Squad A and Squad B. The regular patrol work day shall be ten (10) hours and forty (40) minutes (10.67 hours), with Wednesday overlaps, with five (5) days on, four (4) days off, five (5) days on, four (4) days off, five (5) days on, and five (5) days off duty. The City may adjust the starting time for employees on the patrol schedule for any shift up to one (1) hour with prior notification to the Guild or longer if by mutual agreement. The number of positions per shift will be determined from time to time by the City. Additionally, the Department will identify mandatory training dates which shall be considered part of the regular work schedule. Notification of training dates will be provided prior to the time of the shift bid each year. Mandatory training will occur for both Squads A and B with Squad B covering patrol needs while Squad A is in training and vice versa. The training days will be a full shift (8 to 10.5 hours) at the beginning of each squad’s work week to include breaks and a lunch. The squad that is in training will not be allowed time off on training days except as provided by the Unit Lieutenant. The squad covering patrol needs will be allowed time off as staffing needs allow.
Patrol Division. Employees assigned to the patrol division who request light duty in accordance with this section, may be assigned to work light duty assignments within the patrol division or as call takers within the dispatch center and will have the same work schedule, subject to authorization from his/her physician and the availability of a light duty assignment. Officers may also be assigned administrative tasks such as, but not limited to updating warrant files, assisting with managing the outside workbook, etc. The Department will make a reasonable attempt to insure that the Officer’s days off and hours of light duty will coincide, to the extent possible, with the officers selected shift he/she selected pursuant to the “Shift Pick”. If an officer can not be assigned to his/her previously selected shift due to the lack of light duty work, the Department shall consider the officer’s individual circumstances in making a light duty assignment.
Patrol Division. The initial issue of the prescribed uniform, includes but is not limited to:
Patrol Division. (i) Each Patrol Section shall have two Leave Lists. (ii) One Leave List shall be signed by the Sergeant, Corporal and Constable most eligible for promotion assigned to the section. In the absence of a Constable most eligible for promotion, the senior Constable within the section shall sign on this list. (iii) The second Leave List shall be signed by the remaining Constables within the section. (iv) All Members in the Patrol Division may sign Floater Time, to a maximum of 48 hours, on the Leave List. Should the Member later cancel or alter the dates of this Floater Time, it shall be treated as regular Floater Time. Effective 2004 February 02, signed up Floater time on the leave list shall be deemed to be the first block of leave to be used in each new year.
Patrol Division. Members working 12-hour schedules will attend training on their scheduled days off and shall receive eight (8) hours of compensatory time or overtime for at the rate of one and one-half (1 ½) times the employee's straight time rate of pay. Members working 8-, 9- or 10-hour schedules will attend training during their normal work hours at their normal rate of pay. Trainers will be compensated in the same manner as those members being trained. In order to accommodate the current four patrol shift structure, trainers may be required to train up to twelve (12) days each calendar year. Any adjustments to normal work schedules due to the training schedule will be made no less than thirty (30) days in advance or by mutual agreement of the Department and the affected members.
Patrol Division. The Patrol Division will consist of two teams. One team will be working while the other team is on regular time off. Five Sergeants will supervise each team. Each team will staff a 24-hour work period with three scheduled overlapping shifts as follows: 1st Shift: 0700 – 1900 with two sergeants 2nd Shift: 1500 – 0300 with one sergeant 3rd Shift: 1900 – 0700 with two sergeants The normal workday shall consist of twelve (12) consecutive hours of work (8 consecutive hours on a workday with an employee’s previously selected “4 hours Scheduled Time Off” (STO), as provided in Section 12.4.H). These consecutive hours include a paid meal period. The normal pay period shall consist of 80 hours and such additional time as may from time to time be required in the judgment of the City to serve the citizens of the City. The pay period begins at 0700 hours, every other Saturday. This schedule is based upon a 28-day calendar/14-day pay cycle pursuant to Section 207 of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Patrol Division. The maximum number of police officers and master police officers which may be off on floating holidays, compensatory time or vacation on any shift shall be as follows: (see Article 8 for shift descriptions): # Allowed Off a) Day Shift: three (3) officers b) Afternoon Shift: three (3) officers c) Night Shift: three (3) officers d) The Power Shift shall be considered for accounting purposes to select vacation on the Afternoon shift.
Patrol Division. (i) Members of the Patrol Division will work four (4) consecutive 10-hour or 12- hour shifts and have three (3) days off in each week. The members will have a 50- minute paid meal break and two (2) 10-minute paid "coffee" breaks during their shift. (ii) There shall be an annual bid process for eligible members to bid for shifts subject to bidding by that member. (a) Members who have not yet completed two years of service following successful completion of the Field Training Officer (FTO) program as of the implementation date of the shifts to be bid are ineligible to bid for shifts (“Non-Bidding Members”). Instead, the Chief shall place such officers in shifts. Members who will be unable to fill their bid position within sixty (60) days of the effective date of the bid shall not be eligible to bid, and upon their return shall be placed in a position at the discretion of the Chief. (b) Before the bid begins, the Chief may designate a number of positions on any shift as non-biddable. The number of non-biddable shifts shall not exceed the number of Non-Bidding Members. The non-biddable shifts shall be equally distributed among the shifts. In addition, the Chief may designate positions on all shifts to be filled by FTOs or officers assigned to SWAT. (iii) The bidding will start no later than the first (1st) Sunday in November and end within fourteen (14) days. (iv) Members will bid in order by rank and seniority. Seniority for Sergeants shall be calculated based on length of service as a Sergeant in the City Police Department. (v) There may be special consideration for family and educational needs. (vi) All members of the Patrol Division may trade shift assignments for good cause and with the permission of the Division Deputy Chief. (vii) Except in cases of emergency, any time a patrol officer is required to begin a new shift less than ten (10) hours from the end of the officer's previous shift, the officer shall be entitled to overtime compensation for those hours less than ten (10) hours.
Patrol Division. The length of each shift shall be 9.5 hours. The work hours of the Patrol Division shall be: 22:30 - 08:00 hours
