Common use of Payment for Overtime Worked Clause in Contracts

Payment for Overtime Worked. (1) Subject to clause 23.02, an employee who is required to work overtime shall be entitled to the appro- priate rate described below in (2). (2) Overtime work shall be compensated as follows: (a) at time and one-half (1½X) for the first four hours worked, and (b) at double time (2X) for all hours of overtime worked after the first four (4) consecutive hours of overtime and double time (2X) for all hours worked on a full-time employee’s second scheduled day off. In lieu of (a) and (b) above, at the request of the employee, the Employer may grant equivalent leave with pay at the appropriate overtime rate to be taken at a time mutually agreeable to the Employer and the employee. Where an employee is required to work three (3) or more hours of overtime immediately following his regularly scheduled hours of duty, and, because of the operational require- ments of the service, the employee is not permitted to leave his place of work, the Employer will either provide the employee with a meal or meal allowance equal to the amount of the Dinner in accordance with the Duty Travel, Meals and Incidental Expenses (clause 40.05).
