Common use of Piecework Clause in Contracts

Piecework. 12.1 Piecework is defined as work done and paid for by the piece i.e. a limited portion or quantity. The nature of the work performed will be defined according to the particular agreement as set out at subclause 12.2 of this Clause. 12.2 An employee covered by this Agency Specific Agreement, subject to prior written agreement, is permitted to undertake piecework subject to the following provisions: a) Hours worked on piecework on a rostered day of duty, will be counted as a part of the ordinary hours to be worked, as prescribed in Clause 13 – Hours of the Government Officers Salaries, Allowances and Conditions General Agreement 2006 and Clause 9 – Hours of Duty, of this Agreement; b) Payment for piecework will be on a “per unit completed” basis at the following rates: Jarrah Treemarking Hectare $24.90 ▇▇▇▇▇ Planting 1300 stems Hectare $97.39 ▇▇▇▇▇ Planting 1700 stems Hectare $121.28 ▇▇▇▇▇ Planting 2200 stems Hectare $156.96 ▇▇▇▇▇ Planting 3000 stems Hectare $214.04 Landing Rehabilitation Landing $8.66 Retention Marking 600 stems/hectare pruned 1st thinnings Hectare $37.86 Retention Marking 600 stems/hectare unpruned 1st thinnings Hectare $42.07 Retention Marking 400 stems/hectare pruned 1st thinnings Hectare $27.83 Retention Marking 400 stems/hectare unpruned 1st thinnings Hectare $30.53 The above rates will be adjusted in accordance with percentage salary increases at classification level 3.1 of the General Agreement, or its replacements. c) Payment for piecework will not be made at an hourly or daily rate but paid in lieu of the normal rate of payment. d) Where piece work is performed on a rostered or accrued day off duty, the employee will be paid on the basis of completed units or part thereof, in addition to receiving their normal ordinary hours rate of pay for that day. e) Where piece work is performed on a normal rostered day of work the employee will be paid no less than they would normally have been paid for that day.
