Common use of Portable Extinguishers Clause in Contracts

Portable Extinguishers. All hub facilities must have a minimum of two type of fire extinguishers on the premises at all times. The first type is a 10lb., class BC, CO2 extinguisher. The CO2 extinguisher should be used first in the event of fires involving equipment cabinets or racks. This will minimize secondary damage caused by chemical agents used in ABC class dry type extinguishers. These agents have alkaline based powders that can be corrosive and cause sever equipment damage. The second type is a class ABC, 5 lb., dry chemical extinguisher. This type should only be used as a last resort on electrical equipment or when the fire has spread to the building structure. The extinguishers shall be located where they will be readily available in the event of a fire. (See architectural section above)
