Preferred Shifts a) Employees are eligible for preferred shifts provided sufficient qualified back-up is available on their shift.
b) When an employee with Unitizer Operator relief qualifications is granted a preferred shift, they will be by-passed in the relief rotation.
Preferred Shifts. (a) The Employer may wherever possible, and subject to operational requirements consider an employee's request to work preferred shifts, provided they are available. If the request is denied, the Employer will provide the employee with the reasons for the denial.
(b) The word "shift" for the purpose of this Agreement means the period when the majority of the hours scheduled falls within the day period (between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.) evening period (between 4:00 p.m. and 12:00 midnight) or night period (between 12:00 midnight and 8:00 a.m.).

Preferred Shifts. The parties agree that seniority increases with service and therefore employees will be allowed to choose their shifts by seniority. The day shift will be defined as any shift where hours worked are between 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Preferred Shifts i. In recognition of the desirability for preferential work schedules, the Company agrees to post Preferred Shifts in the following areas to allow employees to apply for any such positions, which hereinafter become vacant (number of Preferred Shifts in brackets). For the purposes of this Article, Preferred Shifts shall be between Monday and Friday Dayshift only. Current incumbents of such positions are listed in a Letter of Understanding dated July 22nd, 2015, from the Company to the Union. Preferred Shifts. The Employer will recognize seniority for the more preferred schedule of daily shifts, including days off within each job classification and department. Once an employee informs the Company of their initial shift preference, their shift preference shall remain in effect indefinitely until the employee timely certifies their desire to change shifts in accordance with Section 56. When a timely notice of preferred schedule and daily shifts is to be issued to employees, it shall also be posted in the lunchroom.
