Procedure Generally. Nothing in this article shall be interpreted as discouraging or prohibiting informal discussions of a dispute prior to the filing of the grievance. A grievance shall be started by the employee or the union representative starting at Step 1. Grievances must be started within fourteen (14) calendar days following the occurrence giving rise to the dispute. Discipline grievance shall be filed by the union or the employee within seven (7) calendar days of receipt of the notice of discipline by the disciplined employee at Step 2 of the Grievance Procedure. All grievances must be filed and processed at the proper steps of the procedure to be valid. It is acknowledged by the parties that this is a final and binding grievance procedure as defined in Ohio Revised Code, Section 4117.10 and that specific provisions of this Agreement are to be resolved through the procedures set out in Section 4117.10.
