Procedures for Reducing Staff. a. When a reduction in the number of teachers employed is necessary, the teachers to be retained on staff shall be those who have the greatest seniority, provided that they possess the necessary qualifications for the positions available. b. The Employer shall give each teacher it intends to terminate pursuant to this article at least thirty calendar days' notice in writing, such notice to be effective at the end of the school year, the commencement of Christmas or Spring Break, or the commencement of Semester or Quarter Break. The Employer shall concurrently forward a copy of such notice to the Association. c. The terms “seniority” and “qualifications” shall be interpreted as defined in Article C.2 and C.3.4 below.
