Common use of Program Organization Clause in Contracts

Program Organization. 1. The mentor and probationary teachers will set aside a period of not less than 30 minutes per week for consultation and discussion during which time questions that may have an impact on the new teacher can be answered. A log shall be kept and provided to the principal at the end of each semester. The mentor teacher will be available for observation of the probationary teacher’s classroom instruction. This will be facilitated and supported by the building administrator through released time and hiring of substitutes. 2. Building administrators will be responsible for supervising the mentoring process. The administrator will monitor the activities and progress through regular discussion with the mentor and probationary teachers. The superintendent will receive brief verbal reports monthly from the building administrators concerning the progress of the program. 3. Orientation for the mentor and probationary teachers will involve emphasis on the confidentiality of information generated between the mentor and teacher. All information will be considered part of the teacher’s personnel file and will be subject to release only by permission of the probationary teacher to anyone except supervising administrators. If it is determined a teacher is struggling excessively, a meeting will be conducted between the probationary teacher, mentor teacher, and administrator to devise a plan to assist the probationary teacher.
