Promotion to a Higher Classification. An employee who is promoted to a higher rated classification within the Bargaining Unit will be placed in the range of the higher rated classification so that he shall receive not less an increase in wage rate that the equivalent of one (1) step of his previous classification (provided that he does not exceed the wage rate of the classification to which he has been promoted). In the event of a transfer to a classification having a lower rate of pay grid, he shall be paid at the range rate in the new job classification nearest to his current rate and he shall progress on the grid in incremental stages in accordance with time served in his new job classification.
