PROMOTIONAL PROCEDURE. A. Full-time faculty members whose qualifications meet or exceed the requirements for a higher academic rank shall be eligible for promotional consideration to that rank. Faculty members who are promoted shall advance four (4) salary ranges. Their new salaries shall be computed pursuant to Article XXII, Section C.1. B. An eligible full-time faculty member may make written application for promotional consideration on or before November l. The application may be accompanied by any substantiating documentation which the individual cares to submit. Nomination of a full-time faculty member for promotional consideration may be made by other than the individual. C. The procedures for promotional consideration utilized in the College/University, if universally applicable, or in the division, department or similar unit in which the faculty member is employed, shall be fairly and equitably applied to all applicants and nominees. The procedures shall provide for consideration based on criteria established by the College/University, appropriate to the College/University and the work unit. The current and applicable procedures, including a statement of such criteria, shall be provided in written form for the understanding of all affected faculty members. This provision shall not be construed as a waiver of the Colleges’/Universities’ right to promote, under procedures set by the Colleges/ Universities, employees not included in the negotiating unit. The Colleges/ Universities, however, recognize the value of peer consultation and except in unusual circumstances will consult with the involved department concerning the procedures to be used in any particular case involving negotiation unit members. D. At each College/University the committee charged with the final evaluation of promotion applications will be informed by the President or his or her designee of the number of promotions available at the various ranks for that unit or the College/University as a whole, and will submit its recommendations to the President or his or her designee. Should the President decide to make a recommendation for promotion to the Board of Trustees which is inconsistent with the recommendation of the final committee, he or she shall provide the committee with his or her reasons for that action. PROMOTIONAL PROCEDURE. Section 1. The following promotional procedure shall apply to the rank of Sergeant. Section 2. A written examination and oral interview shall constitute the testing procedure as follows: (a) The written examination shall be obtained from the Michigan Municipal League. (b) The Township shall post, in the Police Department, a Notice of Intent and sign-up sheet to hold a written examination. Said notice and sign-up sheet shall be posted for a period of twenty-one (21) business days. (c) Bargaining unit employees shall sign up to take the test within the twenty-one (21) day period. Bargaining unit employees who do not sign up within the twenty-one (21) day period shall be ineligible to participate in the written examination or oral interview. (d) The Chief of Police shall notify by posting a notice in the Police Department, that the Municipal League study bibliography is available at the office of the Chief of Police. (e) The Michigan Municipal League written examination shall not be given sooner than fourteen (14) business days (paragraph D above) following the posting of the notice that study bibliography is available. (f) The Chief of Police shall post in the Police Department a notice of the date, time, and location where the written test shall be given. Said notice shall be posted for a period of seven (7) business days preceding the test date. Section 3. The following shall constitute those eligible to test for the position: Township police officers that have two (2) continuous years of seniority within the Department, as a Police Officer. Section 4. The Township shall obtain the examination from the Michigan Municipal League. The examinations shall be kept sealed and in a safe place until the date and time of the examination. The examination package shall be opened in the examination room and distributed. In the event insufficient examination materials have been sent from the Michigan Municipal League to allow all persons to take the examination because of a lack of examination materials, the examination shall be rescheduled when a sufficient number of examinations are obtained in which case Section 2 shall apply. Section 5. Scoring of the written examination shall be performed by the Michigan Municipal League. A passing score of the Michigan Municipal League standard score of seventy (70) is required to proceed to the oral interview. Section 6. Following the written test, oral interviews will be conducted. PROMOTIONAL PROCEDURE. Within one hundred eighty (180) days of a permanent vacancy above the rank of patrolman occurring, a permanent vacancy that it not abolished as described above shall be filled according to merit and fitness ascertained through an objective, competitive examination, administered from outside the City as selected by the City of East Cleveland Civil Service Commission.
PROMOTIONAL PROCEDURE. (a) Candidates for promotion shall be required to apply for and successfully complete the requirements as defined under NFPA 1021 Standards for Fire Officer Professional Qualification or equivalent as established by the Fire Chief. For the purpose of this provision, basic qualification levels shall be as follows: For Company Officers - Fire Officer I (Lieutenants) Fire Officer II (Captains and Platoon Captains) For Command Officers- Fire Officer III (Battalion Chiefs) Those candidates for promotion who are presently qualified as Company Officers or Command Officers shall be grandparented at their present level of qualifications (for example a Company Officer cannot act as Battalion Chief until qualified). (b) The straight time wage for an employee who attends and successfully completes training courses directly related to meeting the requirements of 4(a) above shall continue to be paid by the Employer and an employee who attends and successfully completes training courses while off duty, on their normal scheduled days off work, shall receive compensation by way of hour for hour (time back) for attending training courses directly related to meeting the requirement of 4(a) above. (c) While taking said courses, (and only these courses), members will not receive any senior acting monies that they would have normally received. (d) All cost for courses shall be paid by the Employer (e) The selection process for Specialist Officers will, in addition to the above include: (i) Examinations on subjects appropriate to the position in question. (ii) Leadership skills including such matters as compatibility, suitability, demonstrated ability, ability to promote harmony and inspire confidence. (iii) Candidates will accumulate one percent (1%) for each completed year of continuous service with the Victoria Fire Department. This percentage, to recognize seniority and experience, will be added to the results of all examinations, assessments and interviews for the purpose of determining the final standing of candidates. (iv) All other factors being equal the senior member will be promoted.
PROMOTIONAL PROCEDURE. 20.1.1 The City, Fire Administration and the Union agree to meet on an as needed basis to discuss and develop a promotional process and to recommend the process to the CAO, Director of Human Resources and Fire Chief.

PROMOTIONAL PROCEDURE. Promotion to the position for Sergeant, Detective and Detective Sergeant within the Sheriff’s Office shall be made by competitive examinations as follows; Twenty five percent (25%) for written examination; Twenty percent (20%) for service record; (30%) for oral examination; and twenty five (25%) for seniority. The Sheriff has the right to appoint at his discretion one person to the rank of detective. This position will carry with it all the benefits and wages of a detective.
PROMOTIONAL PROCEDURE. A. Absent extenuating circumstances, promotional exams for the ranks of Master Firefighter‐Captain shall be administered between September 15 – November 30 of their corresponding even/odd years. The Department shall ensure the exam dates do not fall on any holidays listed in Article 16, or on weekends contiguous to those holidays. B. Upon certification of the final promotional eligibility list the employer shall provide the IAFF President with a confidential copy of the list in ranked order from the highest numbered candidate to the lowest numbered candidate. The IAFF President shall be permitted to use the ranked list to fulfill their representational duties.
