PROPULSION ENGINES. Propulsion shall consist of twin marine diesels that meet the current EPA emission tier requirements with reversing gears, drive shafting, and propellers. Note that EPA emission tier requirements are determined by the date of laying the keel. The engine power and rating shall be adequate for the proposed cruise speed, and the operational profile per clause C002. All other running gear shall be matched to the engine rating. Engines shall have the following features: • 10 Micron duplex water separating fuel pre-filters (note filter flow rate to be sized for fuel burn plus fuel return). • 2 micron duplex fuel final filters (note filter flow rate to be sized for fuel burn plus fuel return). • Wet exhaust systems, with hardcoat insulated engine exhaust risers with water injection. Risers shall extend at least 12 inches above worst case damaged stability equilibrium waterline. • Wet silencers, configured to route engine exhausts through the hull outboard sides a minimum of 12” above the waterline. • 12 or 24 VDC battery start • 120/240 VAC block heaters • Color marine panel display for each engine at the helm station and local to each engine • USCG Flex hose section at engine piping connections. • Electrical isolator • Portable lube oil change out pump capable pumping to deck level, similar to Revers-O shall be provided with hose and quick connections to engine, generator, and gear oil sumps. Main engine starting battery banks shall be charged by AC powered battery chargers. All engines shall be equipped with remote fuel shut offs, operated by pull handles located at the Operator’s Station.
