Protective Marking. A marking, as the security classification, used under the provisions of national law, subsidiary legislation, administrative regulation or official obligation where information has to be protected.
Protective Marking. Both the Purchaser and the Service Provider will use the Government Security Classifications. Sensitive documents including any containing sensitive personal data must be clearly marked with the appropriate protective marking (typically, “OFFICIAL: SENSITIVE”, although it is possible to add an additional descriptor such as “OFFICIAL: SENSITIVE: PERSONAL” or “OFFICIAL: SENSITIVE: COMMERCIAL”) – this is for information only. Protective Marking. Sensitive personal data as defined in the Data Protection Act 1998 is personal data consisting of information as to: a) racial or ethnic origin of the data subject, b) political opinions, c) religious beliefs or other beliefs of a similar nature, d) trade union membership, e) physical or mental health or condition, f) sexual life, g) the commission or alleged commission of any offence, or h) any proceedings for any offence committed or alleged to have been committed, the disposal of such proceedings or the sentence of any court in such proceedings. In particular, any information shared between SPS and NHS which includes data on the prisoner’s physical health, mental health or condition must be treated as sensitive personal data. Sensitive personal data must be protectively marked as follows: • SPS will use the Government Protective Marking Scheme (GPMS) and will mark sensitive personal data as RESTRICTED; • NHS will use the NHS Protective Marking Scheme and will mark sensitive personal data as NHS CONFIDENTIAL. Protectively marked information will be provided on the understanding that it will be stored, transferred and destroyed in accordance with the information security requirements described below.

Protective Marking. 12.1.1 Information disclosed under the terms of this ISA will be subject to the Government Security Classification (GSC) for protective marking of information. 12.1.2 Consequently, information shared under the terms of this ISA, will carry one of the following markings and descriptors:  OFFICIAL;  OFFICIAL: SENSITIVE - NAMED RECIPIENTS ONLY;  OFFICIAL: SENSITIVE - POLICE AND PARTNERS. 12.1.3 Additionally, information shared by the Partners, whilst sent via email having a particular GSC marking, may be physically marked using the now obsolescent Government Protective Marking Scheme (GPMS). In all such cases the entirety of the information will be assessed for security marking prior to dispatch and both covering email and any attachments should be regarded and treated as per the applied GSC marking. 12.1.4 In respect of this ISA, GSC markings and descriptors have the following meanings in respect of the physical security, transfer and disposal of information:
