Purpose and Function. The purpose and function of the Area Joint Working Group is to ensure that joint working at a local level is effective and efficient to improve outcomes for children and families. It also acts as an early warning system where senior managers in partner services are alerted to issues at the earliest possible opportunity. The Area Joint Working Group ensures that actions taken are in line with national policy. Objectives: Identify most important priorities and ensure that HSE Divisions and the Child and Family Agency Areas coordinate their efforts and develop shared responses Identify what each Division/ Child and Family Area is doing in their area with associated gaps and blockages and agree solutions Ensure individual complex cases unresolved by local joint working are managed appropriately i.e. referred back to local practitioners with recommendations for further resolution or addressed by the Area Joint Working Group in regard to specific issue, -e.g. decision on funding / resources or approach to Court Ensure joint issues such as aftercare will be routed through this process To identify gaps in service provision with a view to informing strategic planning in both organisations
