Common use of Reduced Service Option Clause in Contracts

Reduced Service Option. 1. Employees may reduce their workload from full-time to part-time and have their retirement benefits based on full-time employment. 2. To qualify for this program, the employee shall have the following prerequisites: a. Ten years of prior full-time service in a position requiring certification in this District. b. Attained the age of 55 prior to the beginning of school year or term in which the reduction in service begins. It shall be the employee's responsibility to initiate the request for reduced service. 3. The agreement or contract for reduced service shall be executed by the employee and employer, in writing, prior to the period of reduced service at the beginning of the school year. The agreement can be revoked only with the mutual consent of the employee and employer. Application for reduced service shall be filed by April 15, of the school year preceding the year requested. Applications after this date will be considered on an individual emergency basis.
