Reforestation Clause Samples
The Reforestation clause requires parties to restore forested areas that have been disturbed or cleared as part of a project or activity. Typically, this involves planting new trees or facilitating natural regeneration to return the land to its original or an agreed-upon ecological state, often within a specified timeframe and according to certain standards. By mandating these actions, the clause helps mitigate environmental impacts, ensures compliance with regulatory or contractual obligations, and supports long-term sustainability goals.

Reforestation. ANACAFE joined forces with the Dutch donor agency (Pur Project) in Huehuetenango to donate 66,637 hardwood trees (mahogany, cedar and hackberry ) for reforestation to benefit five RVCP producer groups. FEDECOCAGUA (coffee value chain) RVCP technicians from FEDECOCAGUA worked with producers to implement GAPs as a means to improve sustainability of international certifications for the coffee value chain. Compliance with the requirements for domestic or international certification is one of RVCP´s achievements as the result of growers focusing on good agricultural practices, good processing practices and good management practices. A total of 18 grower groups currently hold one or more certifications, including FAIRTRADE (FLO), ▇▇▇ Certified, Starbucks Coffee Company C.A.F.E. Practices, Rainforest Alliance, NOP Organic, EU Organic and ▇▇▇ Organic. The total area planted with multi-certified coffee equals 3,813.45 hectares with expected yields of 8,770,900 lbs. of parchment coffee. Seven co-ops that obtained Starbucks C.A.F.E. Practices certification attained the level of strategic status providing them with guaranteed bonuses of US$5 on every hundred-pound bag they export. FEDECOCAGUA technicians provided technical assistance this quarter to growers from 28 organizations in San Marcos and Huehuetenango to promote the GAPs summarized below.
Reforestation. Any operation involving seed management; seedling production; site preparation; tree planting; seeding; regeneration or reforestation surveying; stand cleaning; stand tending; stand thinning; tree improvement; fertilization; drainage; pruning or site analysis that is carried out in the course of forest renewal. For each managed stand yield stratum plus each operational stratum identified in an FMP, outlines the desired future forest condition and the series of harvest, reforestation and maintenance treatments expected to be followed in order to attain the desired outcome. Details the typical silviculture prescriptions to be implemented operationally in order to meet reforestation standards and create the desired future forest, and identifies strategies for minimizing the effects of site and climatic limitations on survival and productivity of seedlings. Previously referred to as the silviculture matrix.
Reforestation. Provision of technical advisory services and training, and acquisition of equipment and materials, for the implementation of reforestation activities, including establishment of land reserves for reforestation and development of opportunities for carbon sequestration activities.

Reforestation. Together with or prior to submission of the 65% Design Development Documents in accordance with Section 7.3.2 (65% Design Development), Developer shall submit to PGCPS a plan (the “Reforestation Plan”) which identifies the number of trees Developer plans to remove from each Site in order to perform the Design-Build Work (collectively, the “Removed Trees”) and the number of new trees Developer plans to plant on each Site (collectively, the “New Trees”). Developer shall use its best efforts so that Developer plants on each Site an equal number of New Trees of a similar species as the Removed Trees on each Site. To the extent Developer is unable to do so, Developer shall use its best efforts so that the total number of New Trees planted on all Sites equals the total number of Removed Trees from all Sites. To the extent, despite ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇’s best efforts, Developer is unable to plant an equal number of New Trees as Removed Trees on all Sites (the “Trees Deficit”), the Reforestation Plan shall identify (a) the total number of Removed Trees from each Site, (b) the total number of New Trees at each Site, and (c) the Trees Deficit. If PGCPS agrees, acting reasonably, that Developer cannot reasonably plant enough New Trees on any of the Sites to satisfy any such Trees Deficit, Developer shall be deemed to have satisfied its obligations with respect to the Trees Deficit.
