Representation by Attorney. A. The City Attorney for the City of ▇▇▇▇▇▇ will represent any police officer sued for actions occurring within the officer's scope of employment with the City, unless legal or personal conflict exists. In any such case in which the City Attorney does not represent the officer, the ▇▇▇▇▇▇ City Council, with the advice of the City Attorney, will select the attorney to represent the officer in such action. In addition the officer may retain an attorney to represent the officer at the officer's own expense, said expense not being reimbursable by the City under any circumstances. ▇. ▇▇▇▇▇ to providing such legal representation to the officer, the officer will submit a written request to the ▇▇▇▇▇▇ City Council as provided in Title 11, Section 23-102, Oklahoma Statutes. Such request will be hand-delivered to the City Attorney within forty-eight (48) hours after the officer has been served with the petition and summons. C. The criteria for selection of an attorney by the City shall include the following: no perceived or actual conflict of interest; expertise in the area of the cause or causes of action; cost; availability; and venue.
