Common use of Responsibility for Compliance Clause in Contracts

Responsibility for Compliance. as specified in this Condition 16 rests exclusively with the Lessee, or with respect to any subleased premises with the appropriate sublessee. The Department of the Air Force assumes no enforcement or supervisory responsibility except with respect to matters committed to its jurisdiction and authority. The Lessee or appropriate sublessee shall be liable for all costs associated with compliance, defense of enforcement actions or suits, payment of fines, penalties, or other sanctions and remedial costs related to Lessee's or any sublessee's or licensee's use of the Leased Premises.
