RUNWAY PROTECTION ZONE Clause Samples

The Runway Protection Zone (RPZ) clause defines a designated area at the end of an airport runway that must remain clear of obstacles and incompatible land uses to enhance the safety of aircraft operations. This clause typically restricts the construction of buildings, placement of objects, or certain land uses—such as residential development or public gathering spaces—within the RPZ boundaries. Its core function is to minimize risks to people and property on the ground in the event of aircraft undershoots, overshoots, or other incidents near the runway, thereby ensuring a safer environment around airport runways.
