Common use of Scope of Arbitration/Authority of Arbitrator Clause in Contracts

Scope of Arbitration/Authority of Arbitrator. The scope of the arbitration is limited to the terms of this Agreement and any supplemental agreements between the parties. The arbitrator shall have no authority to amend, modify, nullify, ignore, add to or subtract from the provisions of this Agreement or any supplement. The arbitrator shall submit in writing the decision and award within thirty (30) calendar days following the close of the hearing or the submission of briefs by the parties, whichever is later. The decision and award shall be based solely upon the arbitrator’s interpretation of the meaning or application of the facts presented and the application of such facts to the terms of this agreement relative to the grievance presented. Subject to the provision of this Article, the decision of the arbitrator shall be binding on the parties.
