Vessels are exempt from GOM Cod Protection Closures IV (October) and V (March), but must comply with GOM Cod Protection Closures I (May), II (June), and III (November, December, and January). The 6.5” minimum mesh size restriction for trawl gear specified at § 648.80(a)(4)(i) when using a ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ separator or ▇▇▇▇▇ trawl within the GB Regulated Mesh Area (RMA), provided the vessel uses a codend with at least 6” minimum mesh size.
