SELECTION OF PERSONNEL. Pursuant to the provision of this article, the department head or designee may designate a person from the next lower classification to temporarily fill a position in a higher classification. The designated person shall be entitled to the base salary of the higher classification plus the person's own longevity pay, incentive pay, or any other benefits entitled him during the time the person performs the duties.
