Common use of Seniority Placement Clause in Contracts

Seniority Placement. 1. A new bargaining unit member shall work for a probationary period of thirty (30) working days. Persons substituting for any Association member for a period of thirty (30) working days or longer shall have the probationary period waived. 2. An employee who moves to a different position within the association shall have the option to move back to the previous position within a period of thirty (30) working days. If the employee’s performance in the position during this period is not satisfactory, the employee shall be reassigned to the former position without recourse to the grievance procedure. The reasons for the reassignment shall be given in writing. 3. Seniority shall be determined by membership in the Association. When an employee moves from one position to another in the Association he/she shall take with him/her all seniority earned. Seniority shall be the determining factor within classification. 4. In the event of more than one member beginning employment on the same day, a drawing shall be held to determine seniority. Placement shall not be changed. If lay-offs are required, the person with the least amount of seniority within the affected classification shall be laid off. Callback will be in reverse order. Classifications are defined as: a.
