Common use of Seniority Principle Clause in Contracts

Seniority Principle. The principle of seniority shall govern and control in all cases of transfer, decrease or increase of the working force, as well as preference in assignment of shift work and choice of vacation period, provided the employee has the ability to perform the work available. It is understood that the Company will endeavour to promote employees from the bargaining unit.
