Sergeants and Lieutenants. Upon promotion, the employee shall be placed on the salary schedule pursuant to Section 13.07. Thereafter, eligibility for subsequent step progression shall be as established in subparagraph (c) of Subd. 1, above.
Sergeants and Lieutenants. (a) Increases in salary for Sergeants and Lieutenants within their respective salary schedules as set forth on Appendix A shall be based upon merit as determined by the Commission, which shall review the performance of each Sergeant and Lieutenant at least once annually prior to his/her anniversary date of promotion. The effective date of all merit increases for Sergeants and Lieutenants shall be an individual’s anniversary date of promotion. All merit increases shall be given in increments of a total step. (b) Any Sergeant or Lieutenant who is not given a merit increase shall be entitled to a conference with the Commission within thirty (30) days after his/her anniversary date of promotion. At said conference, the Employee shall be entitled to a full explanation of why his/her merit increase was denied.

A member shall not lose seniority unless there is a break in continuous service, defined as: discharge (with no subsequent reinstatement), retirement, disability retirement (subject to state law), resignation accepted by the Division, expiration of the recall layoff period, failure to return from an unpaid leave of absence, or death.

Sergeants and Lieutenants. The CITY agrees to reimburse employees for tuition costs at the current state rate and books required in pmsuing and achieving college degrees, from a college or university certified by an accreditation entity recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, in the area of Criminal Justice or related field. This reimbursement is based upon the student achieving a grade "C" or better. When the employee successfully completes and is reimbursed for a thirty (30) semester hour block, the employee shall agree to work at least two (2) years beyond this date or reimburse the CITY for any funds expended on tuition and books. The two (2) years applies to an employee who resigns. Employees in the DROP are not eligible for this program. This program is subject to funding availability.
Sergeants and Lieutenants. The Employer and the Ohio PBA agree to continue to negotiate with each other in good faith on all matters concerning the employment of said employees.
Sergeants and Lieutenants. Lieutenants shall be compensated at time and one-half (1 1/2) their regular hourly rate of pay for all hours worked outside of schedule unless otherwise specified in this Article. Overtime pay and other premium pay shall not be pyramided. Paid time off (sick leave, vacation, personal holidays, administrative leave, comp time and day in lieu of (DILO)) will count as hours worked for the purposes of computing overtime.

If a tie for seniority remains, seniority shall be determined by date of hire with the City of Bexley Police Department. A member shall not lose seniority unless there is a break in continuous service, defined as: 1) discharge (with no subsequent reinstatement), 2) disability retirement (subject to state law), 3) resignation accepted by the City, 4) expiration of the recall layoff period, 5) failure to return from an unpaid leave of absence, or 6) death. Members who retire and are rehired by the City will lose their seniority and are subject to an annual memorandum of understanding. Retirement/rehire requests are subject to approval by the Chief of Police, Mayor/Safety Director, and the Lodge.
