Common use of Shift Swap Clause in Contracts

Shift Swap. Each employee in the bargaining unit will be allowed to exchange work time, so-called “shift swap” with pay, for a shift in which s/he is able to secure another employee to work on his/her hours of work. Swaps may be granted provided: a. Such swaps or exchanges are made only after the approval of the Department Head or a designee. b. Such swap shall not impose an additional cost to the town with regard to payment of additional salaries and wages or any other form of compensation. c. The employee initially assigned the shift which is being swapped shall be responsible for the shift being covered.
