Sick Leave Definition. Sick Leave is defined as the necessary absence from duty of a unit member, because of personal illness or injury of a unit member or unit member’s immediate family, exposure to contagious disease of a unit member or unit member’s immediate family, or dental, eye and other physical or medical examinations or treatment by a licensed practitioner of a unit member or unit member’s immediate family. For purposes of use of sick leave in this section, immediate family shall be limited to spouse, child, step child, ▇▇▇▇▇▇ child, parent or registered domestic partner.

A. Illness, injury or exposure to a unit member, because contagious disease suffered by an employee.
B. The serious disability of personal illness the employee while on a scheduled vacation.
C. The absence of an employee for authorized medical or injury dental care.
D. Care of a unit family member or unit member’s immediate family, exposure pursuant to contagious disease and defined by Labor Code Section 233.

The death of a unit member or unit member’s immediate family, or dental, eye and other physical or medical examinations or treatment by a licensed practitioner of a unit member or unit member’s immediate family. Sick Leave Definition.
