Sick Leave Definition. Sick leave shall be interpreted to mean personal illness, quarantine at home, or serious illness or death in the immediate family or household. The immediate family, for purposes of this section, shall include parents, spouse, brothers, sisters, children, grandparents, grandchildren, parents-in- law, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and legal guardians. In the event of death of relatives or friends other than as listed above, the employee may utilize sick leave for bereavement purposes. Any sick leave taken for bereavement purposes shall be deducted from the employee’s sick leave allotment. Sick and personal days are calculated in Skyward to correspond to an employees work day hours for their primary assignment. Extra duties are not included for time-off and no sick/personal time compensation is paid for “out of work day” extra assignments. Employees that change from part time to full-time or from full time to part time will have their sick and personal time recalculated in proportion to their change in hours. An employee has two (2) years to dispute time off. All records previous to that are considered final.
